Maybe looking like ourselves is enough

Hi Reader!

Have you seen the movie "Ladies First" on Netflix?

It's a satire about reversing the roles of men and women, so that women are now the "men" and rule the world.

While the movie is funny in places, it does highlight how much women have put up with over the years.

And we have to admit... it's oddly satisfying to see the roles reversed for once. πŸ˜‰

The part that really stood out to us was that, now that the men are in the women's role, they're the ones expected to look perfect.

πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Work out
πŸ’‰ Get Botox
πŸ‘” Dress nice
πŸ’‡β€β™‚οΈ Look good

It's basically the only thing that may help them get promoted or advance their careers.

πŸ‘±β€β™€οΈ The Pressure on Women to Look Good

We women often have enormous pressure to look good, don't we?

And if we dare to age, it somehow means we've failed.

Isn't that ridiculous when you think about it?

Aging is natural.

No one can escape it.

It's no wonder that Botox injections are so popular today. And the sad thing is that 94% of people who get Botox injections are women. Only 6% are men.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦³ What's Wrong with Natural Aging?

If there's one thing Linda and I have always agreed on, it this:

We never want to look like someone else.

We just want to look like ourselves.

Maybe a well-rested version. πŸ˜„

Maybe with healthier skin.

Maybe after a good haircut.

But still... us.

πŸ’› Beauty Has Never Been About Perfection

Over the years, we've watched beauty trends come and go.

βœ… Treatments.
βœ… Fillers.
βœ… Botox.

Procedures that promise to turn back the clock.

And while everyone should make their own choices, we've realized something about ourselves.

We've never been comfortable with the idea of changing our faces.

Not because we think getting older is easy. (It's not πŸ˜…)

But because we've always wanted to recognize the person looking back at us in the mirror. πŸͺž

🌿 Our Beauty Philosophy

The older we get, the more we believe that taking care of ourselves is about working with our bodies, not fighting against them.

πŸ₯— Healthy food.
😴 Getting enough sleep.
β˜€οΈ Protecting our skin from the sun.
🧴 Gentle skincare.
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Exercise.
πŸ’› Doing things we love.
πŸ“š Growing as people.

To us, those things are just as much beauty habits as any skincare routine.

✨ The Older We Get, The More We Notice

When we meet people, we rarely think about whether their forehead is perfectly smooth.

βœ… We notice if they're kind.
βœ… If they make us laugh.
βœ… If they have a spark in their eyes.
βœ… If they seem comfortable being themselves.

And honestly, we think those things become more beautiful with age, not less.

πŸ’ One Thought To Leave You With

Society will probably always tell women we need to fix something.

βœ“ A wrinkle.
βœ“ A line.
βœ“ A feature.

But maybe we don't have to spend our lives fighting ourselves.

Maybe taking care of ourselves is enough.

Maybe looking like ourselves is enough.

And maybe that's a kind of beauty worth protecting. πŸ’›
