When did skincare become a full-time job?

Hi Reader!

Can we admit something a little controversial?

We think many people have become obsessed with skincare. πŸ˜„

Sometimes we see these elaborate routines online and honestly feel exhausted just looking at them.

🧴 Cleanser.
🧴 Toner.
🧴 Essence.
🧴 Serum.
🧴 Another serum.
🧴 Eye cream
🧴 Moisturizer.
🧴 Neck cream
🧴 Oil.
🧴 Overnight treatment.

When did we accept that this is completely normal?

It almost makes us want to ask...

When does the skin get a chance to be skin?

πŸ’› Why Did We Stop Trusting Our Skin?

Somewhere along the way, we stopped trusting our skin...

...and started trusting products instead.

The irony is that our skin is incredibly capable.

βœ… It already protects us.
βœ… It already repairs itself.
βœ… It already knows how to produce oil.
βœ… It already sheds old skin cells and replaces them with new ones.

The beauty industry has become so busy trying to convince us that we need to help our skin.

And in the process, we've forgotten how much it already does on its own.

🌿 More Isn't Always Better

Linda and I have always loved a simpler approach to beauty.

βœ… A gentle cleanser.
βœ… A good serum.
βœ… A moisturizer.
βœ… Sun protection.
βœ… Healthy food.
βœ… Good sleep.

And then...

Go out and enjoy life.

Because we don't think beauty should feel like a second full-time job. 😜

✨ Maybe We Don't Need To Fix Everything

Sometimes it feels like the beauty industry has convinced us that our skin constantly needs fixing.

βœ… One more cream.
βœ… One more treatment.
βœ… One more miracle ingredient.

And then we'll finally feel like we're enough.

But what if our skin was never the problem?

βœ“ Real skin has pores.
βœ“ Texture.
βœ“ The occasional breakout.

And that's perfectly normal.

There's no such thing as "perfect skin".

And we don't need to fix every blemish or flaw we see.

Sometimes I get a pimple. It goes away on its own. Imagine that! 😜

Or my face looks orange all of a sudden. It's due to stress. It goes away too.

So unless it's something serious...

...do we really need to panic every time our skin does something skin is supposed to do? πŸ€”

πŸ’ One Thought To Leave You With

We think taking care of ourselves is important.

But we also think there's such a thing as overdoing it.

Beauty shouldn't feel like a never-ending self-improvement project.

It should be about supporting what already works.

And then trusting our skin to do what it was designed to do. πŸ’›
